Any tips on improving my mid range and long range chipping?
I’m improving my golf game everytime I go out there, I am consistently getting off the tee, and my putting is improving. However I am still struggling with my mid-range and long range chipping (distances greater than 20 yards but less than 150 yards) My problem appears to be at contact, I keep chunking it or I make good contact and hit it too hard.
Anyone got some tips on how I can consistently have my club face in the correct position at the point of contact?

nineadmin answers:
Try and feel as though your hands are leading the clubhead through the hitting area (shaft leaning forward) and that the back of your left hand faces the target at impact. You want your divot to start after the ball. Good luck.

Golf tips for wedge shots?
I am a good player usually in the mid-high 70s, but my wedge game has always been sketchy which is mainly: chipping and pretty much any shot within 110 yards. I know if I can improve my technique I can be more consistent and thus control distance better along with practice.

nineadmin answers:
I agree- knowing your distances for all types of shots is critical. A nice, smooth rhythm is also beneficial, especially on chips and pitches.
When you chip, try to land the ball just on the green (~3 yards from the collar) and let it run to the hole. Some people can use one club to chip and vary the distance/roll be swinging harder/softer, playing the ball forward/back, delofting the face… But I think it’s easier to just change clubs and use the same motion. Here’s a little chart from GolfingEighteen.com:
9 Iron – For every foot in the air the ball will roll about 2 feet.
8 Iron – For every foot in the air, rolls approximately 3 feet.
7 Iron – For every foot in the air, ball rolls about 4 feet, etc
You can also approximate the 5 iron, PW, SW, etc. With this info. Don’t be afraid to use other clubs, like the hybrid, fairway wood, putter, or even your driver (yes, it can be beneficial for stuff other than just the tee!). Make sure to remember to study the green before you chip. Planning for rollout and breaks can make getting up-and-down much easier.

I need tips at golf!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
I’m going golfing soon and I’m pretty good. I can drive, putt, chip, and use woods/irons… I am 16 years old. The problem is I cannot hit it straight and far. I have a tourney soon… Any tips?
The tourney is a Saturday. I have no time to practice. My coach thinks it’s because the club is too heavy…

nineadmin answers:
Finish your swing and dont try to kill the ball just have a smooth swing. And dont pay any attention to the competition just play it shot by shot. As far as not hitting far it means nothing i play varsity golf i only drive 250 yards its all about your short game

best tip you ever got to hit a solid golf shot?
what’s the best tip you ever got to hit a solid golf shot? Forget score – concentrating on chipping and putting etc. I want to know what’s the best method to hit a solid straight golf shot? My research tells me it slow on the backswing and swing from the ground up on the downsing. But, when I “try” this or any method – I get the same inconsistent result.

nineadmin answers:
The saying, “stay behind the ball” comes to mind. People just don’t realize how simple it truly is to hit solid golf shots. 3/4 punch shots are as basic as keeping your head down.

help with my golf game
i am an amateur golfer and i have some problems with my game. first off i can drive 250 yds. consistently on the fairway with an occasional 300-325 yd drive. i can putt very well, i have made a few putts over 40-50 ft. and am money from inside 10 ft. the only problem is I CANNOT CHIP FOR SHIT!!! i have tried everything from reading golf tips to watching golf channel all day. every time i go to use my irons or pitching wedge, i either top it, or shoot it sideways. and the only times that i hit it well it is way off target. if anybody has any advice please let me know.

nineadmin answers:
This is something that you need to practice without pressure when you are not in a match (in your backyard is a great place).
Make sure to keep your wrists locked (VERY IMPORTANT, don’t try to flick the ball up) people often do this to try to get more feel on their shots, but it makes them very inconsistent.
Open your stance and take a short backswing (almost as if you were putting)

Trying out for my high school golf team in spring of 2010?
i have played golf about three times a year since i was really little, i have my own clubs and bag, i’m just very, very mediocre. I’m going to start taking lessons very soon, my family are all golfers, i really want to make the team and am prepared to work hard any tips or techniques to keep my focus and how often should i play/hit at the driving range/practice chipping and putting? i’m pretty terrible but i understand the mechanics.

nineadmin answers:
Your best shot at making the team is by showing the coach potential. If you show your love for the game, and your commitment to improving yourself you should be fine. From my experience, coaches prefer a lesser skilled player with a positive team spirit, over a better player who is cocky and only cares about himself. Oh and don’t go around throwing clubs if you hit a bad shot, be well tempered, mature, and respect the game.
Good luck!

Am I an average 19 year old golfer? If not can you give me any tips on how to improve my game?
My average for 9 holes is 52 on a par 36 course, for 18 it is about 105 for a par 72.
I have played golf for 10 years. But have only really started playing and trying to get better the last 2.
In the last two years I have probably dropped my average about 13 strokes on 9 holes and about 30 on 18 holes.
Best part about my game is putting and chipping. I average about 16 chips and 25 putts in a round of 18. My drives our horrendous (about 150 yards/drive).

nineadmin answers:
Put more effort into it man… Have a training regime 3 times a week and a round of 18 atleast once a week. Lessons from a pro dont hurt either. Its all worth it if you really wanna break 100 or even 90. Break up your practice to 40% driving/swing 30% chip/pitch 30% putt good luck!
